Cyclone FES Specialist, Stuart Dunne, is himself in a wheelchair following a road accident. In July 1985 Stuart was rushed to Midlands Spinal Injuries Centre, following a severe road traffic accident. Six months later, following intense rehabilitation and specialist care, Stuart emerged to face life beyond the hospital boundaries.
Having such a high cervical injury (C6/7) life was very difficult - just moving the NHS issue wheelchair was like pushing a Sherman Tank ! It was then that Stuart realized that there was a solution. In 1989 the first Cyclone lightweight wheelchair was produced and was the start of greater things to come.
